My first real yoga class was with Jessica as my instructor. I was not familiar with Ashtanga or any other style of yoga for that matter. She seemed so sure and confident, yet humble and happy to share her experience in Ashtanga with anyone who was willing to learn. It was like she held a secret and wanted to tell someone. I had to know more. I wanted to see just a glimpse of what she knew. I took classes from Jessica for a few years, realizing that I didn’t care to take any other type of yoga class. The next couple of years led to my desire to also share my yoga experience with others. Jessica agreed to mentor me in my own path to becoming a teacher. We now live many thousands of miles away from each other, but her attention to honoring and keeping with the tradition of Ashtanga continues to inspire me. I will always credit her in opening up my world to yoga.
